Ron Paul's Crusade

Congressman Ron Paul has now officially been appointed to chair the House Subcommittee for Monetary Policy in the new Congress. In this position Mr. Paul will certainly meet Mr. Bernanke (FED). As you'll probably know Mr. Paul is not very enthousiastic about the FED and it's policies.

For the most part, I was very pleasantly surprised by Mr. Paul's view on the FED. Having watched quite a few of his speeches (Youtube), I wanted to ask Mr. Paul a question on Capitalism vs. Corporatism. Since I could not get it to Mr. Paul himself, I thought to post it here..

Below here you'll find a recording of Mr. Paul criticizing the policies of the government with Mr. Geithner:

Between Bernanke and Mr. Paul:

Finally, my question:

The fact that capitalism favors the companies that do well could very well (will) lead to very powerful corporations that dominate the market and subsequently abuse their powers to manipulate markets and politics.

In your opinion (Mr. Paul):
  • is there a role for a central body (government) to protect our society against this? If so, what should that role be?
  • do you think a free market can exist when dominated by very large corporations?
